The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Alkali Baba Usman on Tuesday revealed why the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu can not be prosecuted over alleged certificate forgery. Usman on Tuesday told the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja that no petition has been filed with the security agency against Tinubu. He further stated that Tinubu cannot be put on trial because he is not a suspect. The police revealed the reasons why it can not prosecute Tinubu in an affidavit filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja by a counsel, Wisdom Emmanuel Madaki. Giwa stated that a meeting with the association was held on Friday, October 28, with another meeting scheduled to hold on Wednesday, despite its non-affiliation to any of the transport unions in the state. Naija News reports that the drivers had commenced a seven-day strike on Monday over alleged extortion by the management of motor parks and garages in the state. The development had left many commuters in the state stranded for hours, while there was a hike in fares by available bus drivers. Early morning flights were suspended and passengers left stranded as aviation workers shut down the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos Terminal Two (MMA2), on Tuesday. Naija News gathered that the aviation workers are protesting the sack of some of their members by Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL). Passengers were stranded Tuesday morning as flight operations were put on hold as a result of the protest. The situation forced airlines like Ibom Air and Air Peace operating within the airport terminal to stop flight operations. In a notice of strike ATSSSAN Principal Deputy General Secretary, Frances Akinjole said those affected in the disengagement include ATSSSAN Branch Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Women Leader who were said to demand “the payment of terminal benefits to staff members who exited the service of the company lawfully in line with the signed Conditions of Service”. The union said BASL Management acted at a time when parties were at the table discussing the said payment, and there was nothing to suggest that the negotiation has broken down irretrievably. Ahead of the 2023 general election, the Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has placed a ban on any form of political rallies in all the state’s primary and secondary schools starting from November 1, 2022. Naija News reports that Umahi said the ban affects all political parties including the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to him, political parties must get approval from the Commissioner of Education before any such rally can hold in any school space. Umahi, who announced the ban yesterday (Monday) in Abakaliki during the state citizens’ input for the 2023 budget estimate, explained that the ban resulted from reports that people destroy school facilities, by defecating and other filthy activities during such rallies. The governor also restricted the movement of motorbikes popularly known as Okada in the state from 7 pm to 6 am, saying it was part of efforts to secure the lives and properties of citizens.
