Oyebanji Makes First Appointments, Freezes Ekiti State’s Accounts After Inauguration

The newly sworn-in Governor of Ekiti, Hon. Biodun Oyebanji has approved the appointment of Dr. Habitat Omolara Adubiaro, as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

Naija News reports that a former Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi had on Sunday afternoon handed over to Abiodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as Governor of the state. The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, swore in Oyebanji amidst applause from the crowd present. He took over from Governor Kayode Fayemi, who doubled as the chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum. Oyebanji during the oath-taking process pledged to preserve, protect and defend as well as preserve the office as governor in the presence of mammoth Ekiti people. In separate statements signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Yinka Oyebode, shortly after his swearing-in, Oyebanji also ordered ordered immediate closure of all government accounts. According to the governor's aide, the appointment and the freezing of the state accounts are with immediate effect. He said all financial officers in the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) must comply with the directive on the freezing of the accounts. While the new governor appointed Dr. Habitat Adubiaro as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), he retained Yinka Oyebode as the Chief Press Secretary. Dr. Adubiaro, who hails from Ado-Ekiti, was a senior lecturer at the Department of Industrial Chemistry of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE). She attended L. A. Primary School at Ikereku in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital; Igboora High School, Igboora, Oyo State, for her secondary education; the defunct Oyo State College of Arts and Science at Ile-Ife for her Higher School Certificate (HSC) between 1985 and 1987. Dr. Adubiaro later attended the University of Ibadan (UI) in Oyo State where she bagged a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1994; a Masters and doctorate in Food Chemistry at Ekiti State University in 2004 and 2010. She served as a Special Adviser under the first term of the former Governor Ayodele Fayose. She is at present the President of Federation of Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria, Ekiti State Chapter. Oyebode was the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Dr. Fayemi during his first term, the Special Adviser on Media when he was the Minister of Solid Minerals and CPS during his second term as Ekiti State governor.
