APC Campaign Council Sends Appointment Letters Privately To Buhari, Tinubu’s Wives

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has delivered appointment letters to the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, and the wife of the presidential candidate, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to lead the party's women campaign team.

Naija News gathered that the council delivered the letter privately to the wife of the President at the State House in Abuja, while Senator Tinubu received her letter at her home in Abuja on Monday. A source told the Punch that the council also sent the wife of the vice presidential candidate, Nana Shettima, her appointment letter yesterday. The source added that many other women elected to the council were at the campaign office in Abuja to pick up their appointment letters. He said, “You cannot expect the First Lady as well as Senator Oluremi and Nana Shettima to come to the campaign office to pick their letters. It has to be delivered to them privately. “But many other members of the campaign team were here today to pick their letters.”

APC Releases Women Campaign Council

Recall that the ruling party had on Saturday released the campaign list, which contained names of 944 high-profile women and wives of prominent APC politicians. Mrs Buhari, who was appointed Grand Patron, is expected to lead the women’s wing of the party named “Tinubu/Shettima Women Presidential Campaign Team,” to victory. In a statement issued by the spokesperson of the council, Rinsola Abiola, Tinubu’s wife emerged as the Chairman; while Shettima’s wife was made Co-Chairman. A former member of the House of Representatives from Borno State, Asabe Villita Bashir, will serve as national coordinator while Lauretta Onochie, a senior aide in the Presidency will deputise her. The women’s campaign in the North-West Zone will be coordinated by Dr Zainab Bagudu, wife of the Kebbi State governor, while Mrs Falmata Zulum, the first lady of Borno State, will be in charge of the Northeast. In a similar vein, Olufolake Abdulrazaq, the first lady of Kwara State, will coordinate efforts in the North-Central and Mrs Sanwo-Olu, wife of the Lagos State governor, will superintend over the South-West. The First Lady of Imo State, Chioma Ikeaka-Uzodinma, will also coordinate the South-East while Linda Ayade, wife of the Cross River State governor, will head the women’s campaign in the South-South.
