2023: PDP To Move On With Campaign Without Five Governors – PDP NEC Member

BREAKING: Wike’s Camp Pulls Out Of Atiku’s Campaign Council

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Committee (NEC) has confirmed that the main opposition party may have decided to move on without the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and his allies.

Other Governors in the camp of Governor Wike are, Samuel Ortom (Benue State), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia State), Seyi Makinde (Oyo State) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu State). Recall that the aggrieved PDP governors and some others recently pull out of the presidential campaign team of the party as a means to press home their demand for the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu. Governor Wike's camp had insisted on Ayu's resignation following the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate who is also a northerner as Ayu. The aggrieved Governors had expressed their grievances with Northerners taking over major leadership roles in the party, while the South is left with nothing. The PDP NEC member who spoke with Sunday Sun said the party will move on without Governor Wike and his allies if it is impossible to win over members of the group. He, however, stated that the party will keep talking to stakeholders in the camp of Governor Wike, hoping that they will reconsider their position. The source said, “We will keep talking to them (Wike group); hoping that they will reconsider their position. But if at the end of the day, they don’t shift ground. The party must move ahead with and without them and brace up for whatever would happen at the polls."
